The Johnstown Animal Hospital Staff
Suzanne Terrant, DVM
Dr. Terrant graduated from The Ohio State University School of Veterinary Medicine
in 1987. She worked for Dr. Sam Thomas in Bucyrus for two years before buying the
Whitehall Animal Hospital. Dr. Terrant worked at Whitehall for ten years then started the
Johnstown Animal Hospital to be closer to her children. She has three children adopted from
Africa, Hassan, Susan and Yared. They all attend Johnstown schools and are active in soccer
and cheerleading. Dr. Terrant has served 15 years in the US Army Reserve Veterinary Corps.
She has participated in humanitarian missions in Peru, Alaska and Guatemala and was deployed
to Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain and Kyrgyzstan in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003-2004.
She is currently preparing to deploy to Afghanistan for 6 months beginning in July. Dr Terrant
has worked with many rescue groups over the years and has a house full of dogs and cats.
The goats, chickens and geese live outside along with all the other wild critters that inhabit her
land. Dr. Terrant enjoys bird-watching, reading, hiking and camping in Montana.
Chris Nihart, RVT
Chris graduated from Columbus State Community College with a degree in Veterinary
Technology and has been a registered veterinary technician for 15 years. She has worked with
Dr. Suzanne Terrant for 9 ½ years, both at Whitehall Animal Hospital and Johnstown Animal
Hospital. She has been a long time resident of Utica where she lives with her husband and 7
year old son. The other residents of the household include two fantail goldfish named
Skywalker and Darth Vader, a Netherland Dwarf bunny named Sam that was rescued from a
vacant apartment, two cats, Salem and Stubby, rescued from Whitehall, and an elderly mixed
breed dog named Reggie who is always in trouble. Their latest edition is Chopper, a Great
Dane mix found as a 6 week old puppy running loose along the highway. He is now 93 pounds
and fairly well behaved but does like to counter surf. Her other hobbies include reading, writing
children’s fiction, and spending time with her family.
Cathy Mayberry
Cathy started working in Corporate America and did so for many years. She decided it was
time for a career change and, due to her love of animals, moved into veterinary medicine. She
has worked as a veterinary receptionist for eight years. She shares her residence with a
house full of rescue kitties and 3 dogs (just to keep things interesting). Cathy has been with
JAH for six years and her duties range from answering phones and scheduling appointments to
feeding the wild birds and planting flowers.
